The Night Does Funny Things

£1,250.00

This original painting made in 2020 during lockdown, is one from the series titled ‘The Party’. Joe created this series when he was isolated from all my friends and family. “The one thing I missed the most was the company of these people and the joy of conversation.”

Here, the earthy colours provide a sense of stability. The enlarged face on the right hand side shares eyes with other people. The overlapping faces and shapes are the movement and joy of speaking and getting lost in a conversation. The title comes from a conversation Joe once overheard and wrote down at a party.

This painting is framed in a box frame and is floated on a mount. This shows off the irregular shape of the paper which is cut by hand by Joe, sliced from a larger piece of paper, when he feels the picture is finished. The frame itself is white washed soft wood made by Andy Brooks a brilliant local framer. Including the frame the picture measures in at approximately 90cm wide, 90cm tall and 6cm deep.

To see this painting in the flesh head to the restaurant COR in Bristol.

Any questions or further information, feel free to send Joe an email. His details can be found on his contact page.
