BRISTOL MURAL

SHE SAW THE SUN RISE AND KNEW IT WAS A GOOD DAY

She saw the sun rise and knew it was a good day’ was commissioned by the builder and owner of the new houses in Montpellier, Bristol, who sought to breathe life into the area and bring an uplifting sentiment to the street. It was also important that the mural sit well alongside the other mural across the street made by artist Lucy McLauchlan, as part of the Upfest 2021 festival programme.

The artwork stands as a testament to the city's rich natural and ecological surroundings and the community that inhabits it. It has become a beloved landmark in the community, drawing in visitors from far and wide.

Planning Phase

Firstly, a CAD drawing of the wall in question was rendered. Then the image which at this point had been drawn by hand on paper, was scaled to fit the exact dimensions of the wall.
Next the colours were chosen. Getting the tones correct at this stage is crucial. The colours were mixed to the exact specification and quantity in the appropriate type of paint.
